Conventional book publishing is controlled by only a handful of large corporations, and fewer and fewer titles are being released each year. Small publisher keep disappearing, being gobbled up by the big boys. What's more, hard bound and paperback book distribution channels give the big publishers the financial advantage. Authors who do manage to sign with a known publisher have found out that unless you are a big name, or are somehow already a celebrity, that the vast majority of book promotions fall onto their shoulders. The big boys spend the money on their established top sellers, and just about ignore their mid-line authors.
As bleak as this all sounds, there is hope for the talented authors. The Internet has opened up a vast distribution channel. Despite the over-exaggerated claims of peer-to-peer piracy, electronic publishing offers a means of providing a way for authors to find an audience.
Unlike many other E-book publishers, Stasis Publishing Arizona does not accept any manuscript from anyone who is willing to pay. We are selective of the titles we will carry. We want a good story, with good writing. And when we find that, then we will offer to carry that title, without charging the author. What's more, we are not out to grab control of the author's rights. We do not require an exclusive contract. If an author signs with us, he/she is free to pursue deals with other publishers. If you can sell your work to the big boys, or get a movie contract from Hollywood, we'll happily wish you well.
