The Sixth Sense My all time favorite. Very few movies can pull off such a surprise ending, yet seem so obvious in retrospect. The ending literally sent chills down my spine when I originally saw it in the theaters. Yet, it is still thrilling to watch on DVD knowing the twist.
The Abyss A very human story, packed in an underwater action adventure / science fiction story. My heart still pounds when I watch Biggman trying to resurrect his drowned wife.
Star Trek Movies (all but Shatner's fiasco) What can I say, I'm a fan.
Star Wars Movies (all) Yes, I even liked Phantom Menace and (gasp!) Jar Jar Binks.
Dogma Although this offended some people, I thought it was a very intelligent movie, talking about an important topic, wrapped in crude, but biting satire. We need more movies (and books) with the courage to tackle topics like this, and not bow down to a special interest group because they can't face examining their own beliefs in any serious or satirical manner. (I bet God even liked this movie!)
Back to the Future I, II, III Exciting, fun and even a little thought provoking. I can't believe Hollywood is stupid enough to make a IV without Micheal J. Fox. Shame on them! Just leave it at 3.
The Wedding Singer Adam Sandler's only good work (in my humble opinion.) A little silly, but very funny with characters you can really care for.
Indiana Jones I & III II stunk. Heard they're making a IV. Hopefully the rumors that Sean Connery will be in it are true. He was great in The Last Crusade.
Other favorite Movies: Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone, Shrek, The Mask, Ghostbusters, Toy Story I & II, Galaxy Quest, Splash, Little Shop of Horrors & Mr. Holland's Opus.
TV:
Star Trek (All of them) Unlike some fickle fans, I love all of the series. Each had their strengths and weaknesses. My favorite to date was Deep Space Nine. The ongoing story-line and the Dominion War kept me glued to the TV.
Babylon 5 The character and plot development over the 5 year run was fantastic. I know of no other show that took two characters, (Londo & G'Kar,) made you like one and hate the other in the beginning, then successfully reversed how you felt about them over the run of the series. Too bad the spin-off was so bland.
Junkyard Wars For those of you who don't get TLC, this is sort of a game show that has 2 teams build machines out of scrap found in a junkyard, and then compete. Examples: hovercrafts, all terrain vehicles, rockets, and more.
The Simpsons Great comedy show that never seems to lose its edge.
ER Good Drama, great characters. If only real doctors cared that much.
X-Files Thought killing off Mulder in the 2000 year would sink it, but the show held on surprisingly well, especially bringing him back.
