First and foremost, I like to read. I prefer science fiction, but have read almost every genre. Check out my list of favorite books.
Other hobbies and interests:
Computer Animation Self-taught, I have used this interest to create the front & back cover of Distant Ties, as well as the cover artwork for the novel Epsilon, by John J. Rust. You can also see some of my work by going to my Graphics Page. I've tried my hand at airbrush painting, but found I could create the images I want on the computer far easier.
Model Rocketry I've liked to build and fly rockets since high school, and now do it with my son. I used to be heavy into building regular models (science fiction, of course,) but have gotten out of it because of the space they took up, plus the fact that almost all of them became damaged whenever I moved. Now, when I get the urge, I use my computer animation program and build them virtually.
Music I like to listen to rock music from the late sixties through the mid eighties. I like it hard, soft and almost everything in between. Can't stand rap. Artists I like include Styx, Boston, Scorpions, Tom Petty, Eagles, Doobie Brothers, Billy Joel, Beatles, U2, John Melloncamp and others. My brother-in-law taught me a few Scorpion songs on the bass guitar, but I have a long way to go to actually learn how to play. With this same brother-in-law, Bart Huff, I've written a number of rock songs (I wrote the lyrics, he the music,) which I have to say are pretty damn good. We plan on recording them and selling them on CD when we finish.
Computer Programming I've dabbled here for years. Haven't created any earth-shattering programs yet, but who knows what the future may hold.
